Marquitta Howard

My name is Marquitta Howard and I was originally born in Atlanta, GA but moved to Charlotte in 2008. When I came to Charlotte I fell in love with the city! I went to middle and high school in Charlotte attending charter and district schools. After high school, I then went on to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and obtained my degree in psychology and education. After graduating in 2018 I became a Teach For America Corps Member and became an elementary teacher. I have taught elementary for 5 years teaching English Language Arts and Math. During my time teaching I obtained my master's degree in Education Policy and Leadership from American University. I hope to continue my education in policy to fight for students to have voices within their education. When I am not teaching, I enjoy hanging out with friends and family and finding new things to learn to expand on my current knowledge and to challenge my thoughts and beliefs.
