Multicultural night

Picture

One of my favorite events of last year was our Multicultural Night! I loved the opportunity for our families and staff to share aspects of their culture, heritage, and travel experiences with other Lab families and to get a taste of the cultures from around the world that are represented within the Lab community.

This year's Multicultural Night is Thursday, April 19, which is right around the corner! There are two ways that you can be involved:
  • Attend the Event: You and your family can take a self-guided tour through the stations prepared by Lab faculty, parents, and students; learn about cultures from around the world; and explore how we are influenced by our cultures. All Lab families are welcome to attend; please RSVP here!
  • Host a table: If you wish to host a table featuring a culture, heritage, or travel experience, please let us know that you will participate by signing up here. Students are encouraged to participate with their families.

For more information, check out the flyer in your child's green folder. We look forward to another great event.

Sincerely,

Mary Moss Brown

Make and Grow Summer Camp

Make and Grow time is right around the corner, and Mr. Hartzell has expanded to 7 weeks of camp this year at UNCC Center City!

As always, students will have lots of time to build and test different projects in our pop-up maker space. In addition to exploring/tending the gardens at Lab and First Ward Elementary, we will also be spending time experimenting at the Middle School and McGill Rose Garden.

It's definitely going to be an exciting summer, so sign up for your week(s) now!

You did it! You helped us reach our goal of raising $200,000 for the Lab Innovation Fund by March 15. We are 73% of the way to our final target, and we need everyone to make a donation -- of any size -- in order to hit our annual fundraising goal of $275,000.

If you have not already done so, please make a gift or pledge today! You can:
  • Make a donation by credit card on our secure website.

  • Contact Susannah Lund for more information about making a monthly donation or gift of securities.
A gift of any amount makes a difference and helps us reach our goal!

Student birthday parties

Parents are invited to celebrate their children's birthdays at school, and we ask that you follow these policies:
  • Parents may join their child for lunch and bring a small treat to share with advisory to celebrate their child's special day.
  • Birthday celebrations must be arranged IN ADVANCE with the child's advisor so that he/she knows when to expect you and can plan an alternative treat for those children who might not be able to enjoy what you bring.
  • All treats must be NUT-FREE
