We have received many questions from families about how Lab will handle family/student requests to participate in the National School Walkout, currently planned for 10 am on March 14, to raise awareness about gun violence. Charlotte Lab Schoolsupports students' Constitutional rights to assemble peacefully and to express their beliefs freely; however, particularly given the age of our students, we also want to ensure that students participate safely and in an informed way and that the school's focus remains on learning. Therefore, any student who wishes to participate without consequence must complete Lab's National School Walk-Out Request & Permission Slip along with their parents.
Middle School Students: All middle school students who wish to participate without consequence must complete the form with their parents and provide their reasons for participating. They may participate in the walkout by reporting to the courtyard at 10 am on March 14. (In case of rain, students should report to the large commons.)
Lower School Parents: Lower school students must have their parents complete the form. They will be directed to report to the playground at 10 am. (In case of rain: students will report to the Multi-Purpose Room.)
