Meegan Whelan
Director of Wellness / Primary & Lower School Counselor

Meegan Whelan knew at a very early age that she wanted to work with children and become a Counselor.
She was immediately drawn to the idea of helping students work through the difficult areas of their life, while providing them with guidance and support through the process. Following her receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Business Administration from the University of New Hampshire, Meegan has received a Masters in Counseling from UNH, a license in Professional Counseling, and a (CA) in Marriage and Family Counseling.
A native of Boston, the majority of Meegan’s career has been spent working in San Francisco. She moved to Charlotte four years ago and quickly realized that the Lab School was a community that she could see herself working and thriving in. She moved here with her husband and daughter and they have fully taken advantage of all that Charlotte has to offer. Since then, she has had three little boys and keeps busy when she is not working in a school setting.
Being active and traveling are two of Meegan’s greatest passions. She loves to play most sports, yet, running, playing tennis, and doing yoga are her favorite at this point in her life. Traveling has been a priority for Meegan since college, and seeing a new place for the first time is one of her favorite experiences. Her travel-related aspirations include visiting every continent, as well as living in another country in order to immerse herself in that particular culture.
