Myah Davis
Head of Lower School

Dr. Myah Davis has spent the last 12 years in education serving in several roles, including elementary and middle school teacher, curriculum specialist, interventionist, assistant professor, and dean of students. While as an undergraduate student at Jackson State University, Myah began working with the Children’s Defense Fund Freedom Schools program. Serving as a Servant Leader Intern with Freedom Schools changed her life and led to her changing her major to education. Myah worked with the Freedom Schools program in several capacities in many cities throughout the country for over 15 years.
Myah began her teaching career as an 8th-grade Social Studies teacher in Mississippi. She worked in schools in Texas and Louisiana before arriving in Charlotte, North Carolina, as an Assistant Professor of Elementary Education at Winthrop University. Most recently, Myah served as a Program Specialist and Dean of Students with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.
Myah holds a B.S. in Social Science Education from Jackson State University, an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from the University of Mississippi, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of North Texas. Myah’s research interest focuses on culturally relevant and competent education. She has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at several education conferences throughout the U.S. Her passion is teaching and leading teachers who are willing and able to understand and highlight the cultural differences in their students to provide an excellent educational experience.
In her free time, you can find Myah reading a great book, watching movies, cooking, or playing games with her husband, Allen, and their two daughters, Amiya and Mileah.
