Charlotte Lab School Band (5th-8th Grade)

Dear Parents/Guardians (5th-8th),

Hello! My name is Jolanta Wilson and I am the Lower School Music Teacher here at Charlotte

Lab School. This year I am implementing a new band program here at our school that will be

offered to students from grades 5-8. The Charlotte Lab School Lions Band will meet every

Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-4:30 in the Music Room. No experience necessary!  It's

absolutely free to be in band-all you would have to do is provide your own instrument and I can

most certainly help you out with the best options out there. Learning to play an instrument is an

immensely rewarding experience and I personally cannot recommend it enough!

Band is an excellent experience for anyone looking to be involved in music. It can become a

hobby, a passion, or even a lifelong pursuit. In any music ensemble, musicians learn discipline,

artistic expression, and cooperative skills. Band is one of the best ways for any student to get

involved in group activity, meet new people, and make lasting connections.

Attached, you will find a student interest form along with the instrument interest. All you need to

do is provide information requested along with checking off the instrument your child is most

interested in learning to play. If possible, please have the interest form back to me by

September 14. I would love to have an idea of the number of members and instrumentation that

the Lab Lions Band will have. First rehearsal is September 29.

Thank you so much and I hope that we will have a fun and thriving band program here at

Charlotte Lab School in the very near future!
