The guidance office at Lab took students to multiple events to prepare for post-secondary success.
Our vision at Lab is that all students explore their post-secondary options and know the various paths available to them. We expect that every senior meets one-on-one with our guidance counselor to map out their post-secondary plan which can include college, vocational training, workforce training, military, or directly into the workforce.
The majority of our students choose to attend a 4- or 2-year college/university, but our guidance office works hard to ensure all students needs are met and and resources are available to help them with their first step after graduating high school.
The college and university fair had over 100 colleges/ universities for our students to learn about. They were able to talk directly with admissions folks to ask questions and learn about the student life experience, rigor of degree paths, and what life at their college was like. Students walked away with lots of information and many scheduled follow-up campus tours to learn even more about specific institutions.
The upcoming trade/vocational fair will be an opportunity for any HS student who is interested in a trade to learn more about the work in a hands-on environment. They will get to hear from someone in the trade and even try out some hands-on demonstrations related to the career.
Both events are incredible opportunities for our students to explore and learn more about what they may do after graduation. We look forward to continue offering these experiences throughout this school year!
