Staff and leadership are highly optimistic based on last year's results, with our class of 2025 college bound students receiving acceptances into their top choice universities, including UNC Chapel Hill, Syracuse University, Howard, UNC Charlotte, Temple University, UCLA, App State, SCAD and others. In our first two years of graduating classes, more than 10% of our seniors were accepted into Chapel Hill!
One current high school student attributes their experience at Charlotte Lab School with “making me become more of a leader, challenging me to think critically in my views on the world. I have a great internship that is teaching me different tasks and creativity; my honors classes and teachers are great at supporting me in maintaining my high GPA and always willing to challenge me. Classes have teachers willing to give us independent work, and time to work on those skills that will be needed in college.”
Lab Upper School has made many exciting improvements over the past two years, including increased academic rigor, Honors course options, and more onsite AP classes, in addition to our continued dual-enrollment partnership with CPCC and many unique Quest and internship experiences. We are so proud of the successes Lab students are having with college acceptances and scholarship awards and feel confident that their high school experiences are helping them to stand out in the admissions process.
Adding to the excitement around college acceptances are visits from college representatives and day trips to schools within driving distance of our city-center Charlotte campus. Last month, students visited college fairs and multiple campuses near Charlotte and in the Triangle region, including UNC-Charlotte and North Carolina A&T.
We can’t wait to see what the future holds for our college bound high school students!
