Florence Blackson

Florence Blackson is a multi-passionate enthusiast. She started her career in cosmetology, which she did alongside tailoring school. She has made many outfits for people over the years. Ms. Blackson then left the applied arts to begin a career in Early Childhood Education. She ran an in-home daycare for many years while raising her own young children. Ms. Blackson then decided to take a break from Early Childhood to pursue her passion within the culinary arts. She then discovered her love for baking and went back to obtain a certificate in Baking and Pastries and Moved into Early Childhood Nutrition. 

 

Ms. Blackson has always loved people and serving her community. Which is how she spent 20 years as a Pharmacy Technician. However, her love for the classroom was a bug she just couldn't shake. She went back to the classroom part-time when she became a grandmother for the 3rd time. She was then a lead classroom teacher. When her grandchild went off to pre-K she went back in the classroom full-time running Afterschool and Daytime substitute teacher where she gained experiences in the Admin roles of Charter Education.

 

Ms. Blackson has been enveloped in all aspects of classroom logistics, to Teaching Assistant, EC Assistant then on to Administrative Assistant.  Ms. Blackson runs a tight ship with grace and humility. She takes pride in what she does and provides support where needed. Students respect who she is and know that she cares for them and their wellbeing.  When Ms. BlacKson isn't in the front office; you can find her crafting and sharing her wares at events. She loves spending time with her family and friends. She is the youngest of 15 children, from Philadelphia, Pa. She's looking forward to connecting with the Lab Families!
