Krista Lewis-Johnson, Ph.D
National Senior Executive Director: Product Design, Development, & Impact

Dr. Krista Lewis-Johnson is a senior executive at New Leaders, a reputable, national nonprofit organization who specializes in school and system leadership development. In her current capacity, she oversees the design, development, and evaluation for K-12 products and services. She’s also responsible for internal professional learning necessary to support sales and high-quality delivery. To ensure that products are set up to achieve impact, scale, and sustainability, a critical aspect of her work is partnering closely with key cross functional executives to maintain alignment to organization-wide goals and objectives.
Krista previously worked as a program director for one of New Leaders signature programs, where she coached and facilitated learning for aspiring leaders. She also served as Academic Facilitator and Coach in both Charlotte Mecklenburg (CMS) and Gaston County School (GCS) districts. She also served as Curriculum & Instruction Specialist (Central Office), again in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.
Through her experiences at New Leaders, her passion has grown for supporting veteran leaders, building their capacity in executive leadership, especially strategic thinking and planning, leading and managing adults, building and sustaining team culture, change management, and leading for equity. Given her dedication to and passion for leadership development and student success, she stays active in her local community, serving as Board Chair for a local Charter School in Charlotte, North Carolina and coach to network leaders.
Krista holds three degrees: Bachelor of Arts: English (Hampton University); Master of Arts: English (Winthrop University); and Doctor of Philosophy: English, Literature & Criticism (Indiana University of Pennsylvania).
In her spare time, Krista spends time with her husband, Dion, and two children, Ayva and Dominic.
